Louisiane's Portfolio

Introduction

le 22/06/2005 à 18h35

Hey guys, I'm no longer designing or drawing anything as I found other interests and opportunities. I'll leave this blog up for a while though as I'm feeling a bit sentimental about it.

For those who don't wanna browse through, I put up a video version of my portfolio up on google video. It's right HERE, but of course you'll get a much better picture quality on this blog. Hope you enjoy it! (25/10/2008)

I am keeping this blog mainly to show my friends what I'm doing.

If you are interested in seeing my professional portfolio, you can contact me using the "Me contacter" feature on the left hand side.

Don't forget to add your email to the newsletter at the top, and I'll let you know about the updates.

I recommend to watch each part separately:

Sketch 29/01/2005

le 22/06/2005 à 18h36
33 x 50 cm, ink, pencil, gouache and charcoal.
I was particulary interested by four heads and made them on the right.

Sketch April 2005

le 22/06/2005 à 18h42
50 x 65: ink, pencil, gouache
I like to use different tools for each of my works. In this one, the body and the movement become traces.

Sketch May 2005

50x65 cm: gouache, ink and pencil

Sketches with trees

le 23/06/2005 à 09h22
50 x 65 cm: gouache, string, leaves.
I wanted to create a kind of harmony between the plants (trees, leaves, strings) and the human body

Prisoner Body

le 23/06/2005 à 09h25
I had to chose a theme this year, to lead a part of my work. I chose to work about the body, more specifically about the relation between the body and the state of imprisonment.

Prisoner Body

le 23/06/2005 à 09h46
In this board and in the next one, I searched different elements which can imprison a body: jail, chains, bad health, over/underweight, pregnancy, the mind too as the body may be subjected to it.
On the right side, I made deformed reproductions of some life drawings.

Prisoner Body

le 23/06/2005 à 10h35
There, I found new factors of imprisonment: culture (with the example of a giraffe woman), cold/heat, pain, death and the body itself.
On the right side, the body appears progressively into the box (from bottom to top). It is a representation of a mental imprisonment

Prisoner

le 23/06/2005 à 13h26
50 x 65: pencil
In this one I strengthened the loneliness of the prisoner by the vacuum.
I was thinking about Klein who made an exhibition about te vacuum, where there was absolutely nothing, but what he called "spaces of sensitivity"

Prisoner

le 23/06/2005 à 13h31
The regressive shadow on this work represents the loss of value of the prisoner. But he can keep a kind of freedom by his mind. the window and the bird are a symbol of freedom and escape.

Prisoner

le 23/06/2005 à 13h51
50 x 65 cm: gouache
In this painting I wanted to show the discomfort of the prisoner. I had no model. I wanted make it after seeing "The Escape" of Daumier.

Prisoner

50 x 65: Paint, pencil and crayon.
I took my inspiration from "Brave New World" (A.Huxley) where the characters think they are free and have a nice life when they are totally manipulated by their social body. Here, the character has a movement of freedom in spite of her being a puppet manipulated through her wires.

Prisoner

50x65: pencil
I tried to guess the feelings of a prisoner.

Prisoner

100x65 cm: pencil and crayon

I was inspired by the work of Ernest Pignon Ernest. I reproduced one of my own works on a fine paper. If I had the possibility I would stick it on the ground of a public place to let people walk on it until its total destruction. The woman looks at them so that they can feel involved. The idea was to make people aware of the condition of the prisoners and to show how the society can destruct people by sending them to jail. I tried it for an examination and invited the examinator to walk on it (she did it with respect).

Prisoner

65x70 cm.
I just wanted to make the contrary, and to liberate the human body.
